FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE PROCESS

CAN I SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT?

We are one of the few rescues in New England that are not by appointment. We are a completely volunteer-run rescue, and our volunteers give up their Saturdays so that our cats can find forever homes. However, we realize this is not ideal for everyone and are happy to recommend rescues who are by appointment should that better suit you.

ARE YOU ONLY ONLY OPEN ON SATURDAYS TO MEET THE CATS?

Yes, our meet and greets are conducted every Saturday.

WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT ON SATURDAYS?

Unfortunately, we cannot open the shelter to the public on any other day, except for unique circumstances such as our Friday Meet-and-Greet Auction. Our suggestion is to make an appointment with another local rescue.

CAN I BRING MY KIDS?

Due to our COVID-19 policies, we cannot allow children under 18 into the rescue at this time. Currently, the only exception to this is our occasional Friday Meet-and-Greet Auctions, in which case the entire winning family is welcome.

HOW MANY PEOPLE IN MY FAMILY CAN COME TO THE RESCUE?

We ask that you limit your party to two per family. Our COVID-19 policies place limits on the number of people that can safely occupy the shelter at one time. The more people in your party, the longer the wait (for you, and everyone else).

WHY DOES THE WAIT LIST SAY IT IS CLOSED?

Our wait list goes live on Saturday at 11am. It remains closed until that time.

I JOINED THE WAIT LIST AT 11AM WHY AM I NOT FIRST?

Many adopters join at 11am, and the system process the information as it is received. Still, joining the waitlist right at 11am will ensure that you are among the first visitors to be called.

MY WAIT TIME SAYS XXX AMOUNT OF HOURS/DAYS. IS THIS CORRECT?

Our typical waiting time is 10 minutes to 3 hours. If your provided wait time is greater than 3 hours, it is likely incorrect. Please allow the server a few moments to adjust for new entries, and then refresh your page.

WHERE AM I ON THE WAIT LIST?

You must enter your email to join the wait list. You can use this email to check your wait list status at any time.

HOW DO I KNOW WHEN IT IS MY TURN TO COME IN?

We will text you when it is your turn to come in. We will then give you 10 minutes to arrive.

DO I NEED TO BE AT THE RESCUE AT 11AM TO JOIN THE WAIT LIST?

No, you can join the waitlist online, from your home. However when you receive a text from us to confirm that it is your turn to come inside the shelter, we give you 10 minutes to arrive.

CAN I BRING HOME MY CAT ON THE SAME DAY?

Only some of our cats are eligible for same-day adoption. If the cat you choose is not available for same-day adoption, we will schedule a day and time for you to pick up your cat.

DO I NEED TO SUBMIT AN APPLICATION PRIOR TO ARRIVING?

While not required, we highly recommended that you fill out an application with your information (you can leave the cat information blank) and bring a printed copy with you to the shelter. If you decide to adopt a cat but do not have a pre-filled application, this slows down the process and adds to the wait time for others.

IF I SUBMIT MY APPLICATION DOES THAT PLACE A CAT ON HOLD FOR ME?

Unfortunately, no. We are a first-come, first-serve shelter.

WHAT HAPPENS IF YOU RUN OUT OF KITTENS?

We receive dozens of kittens and cats every week. It is a rare occasion to have no adoptable kittens. If it does happen, however, we will inform those remaining on the day's wait list, and will stay open for anyone on the wait list who is interested in meeting our adult cats. We have never run out of adoptable cats.

WHY ISN'T ANYONE ANSWERING MY CALL/TEXT/EMAIL ON SATURDAYS?

As is evident by our wait times, we are extremely busy inside the shelter on Saturdays and are unable to answer any calls, texts or emails until after we close to the public. Please review this list of FAQs to see if your question is addressed.

WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?

We are located at 920 Lafayette Rd, Unit 201, Seabrook NH.

We share a building with Linda's breakfast; we are directly to the right of them if looking at the building from the parking lot. Please note that we do not have a sign above our unit, but upon entering the parking lot you will see our cats in the windows!

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT DO YOU ACCEPT?

We accept CC, DC, check, PayPal, Venmo and cash.

QUESTIONS ABOUT THE CATS

WHAT ARE YOUR ADOPTION FEES?

Our fees are $250 for kittens, and $165 for adults.

WHAT DOES THE ADOPTION FEE COVER?

All our cats are fixed, up-to-date on vaccinations, tested for FIV/FELV, dewormed, microchipped

and issued a health certificate by a licensed veterinarian.

WHAT IF I AM LOOKING FOR A SPECIFIC COLOR, SEX OR COAT LENGTH?

You can email us at info@cattalesnh.org on Friday afternoons with inquiries on specific cats, or specific cat characteristics. By this time, we typically know who will be available the following day. This does not, however, place a hold on the cat for you.
